IPsec not work

Hello All!
I want to understand, VPN IPSec:
If your client machine is behind a Nat device....IPsec will not work
this is true?
If so, then nothing can be done?

    Yes, if you want to use the HTTP Proxy when connected via VPN, the appropriate network must be listed in 'Allowed networks'.

    if I don't want to use HTTP Proxy?
    if I'm not add PPTP pool in the HTTP Proxy network even when the allow the Masquerading    -internet not working...
    so it should be??
