VPN to family members without Astaro?

I have family members whose IT-knowledge is poor. They are connected to the Internet through an ADSL-modem and they are asking me for guidance when they have problems.

I have been thinking over the possibility to connect via remote access to their computers but they are behind a router which makes it a bit more complicated.

I am wondering if Astaro could help me to establish a VPN with their routers so I can access their home nets to be able to connect via remote access.

Which router (with Wifi) do you recommend? Which type of VPN? I do not want to pass all traffic through my Astaro, only the protocol for remote access in this case.  Site-to-site VPN is a solution but are there any (cheap) routers on the market for home use who supports IP-sec site-to-site VPN?

Is RED a economical solution together with my home license?
