Is everybody happy with openVPN?

Beside the big problem with Windows Vista and Windows 7, is everybody happy with the openVPN?

We have several issues with this, some users are only able to connect the first time, some users after third reboot of their system!

Sometimes only IP addresses are working, DNS not! I also checked MS Technet Cannot Change the Binding Order for Remote Access Connections and this solved some DNS issues.

Unacceptable, i think!
95% of users have never problems, but only one not working user is a reason to change Remote VPN strategy!

    I have to set DNS manually on Fedora. It _might_ work better with NetworkManager, but there is a bug in NM which hasn't been fixed in Fedora yet.

    I'm happy with OpenVPN but we deal primarily with Macs and use Viscosity as a client.  Works great, clients love it as PPTP is blocked in a lot of locations.

    Which VPN system within Astaro specifically?

    We use the SSL client on a mixed bag of Windows XP, Vista & 7 machines with no major issues. Vista/7 require elevated privileges to set the routing tables but that's a minor issue at best.

    Yes, you are both right, never problems with Linux and Mac (Viscosity and Tunnelblick)!

    Seems to be HA-Problem with openVPN, my users have never problems connecting to a non HA-Firewall, some users in both locations with HA have problems.

    So i turned of HA in the US location and it is working fine right now.

    Is there any reqiurement for HA in the router network? Switch or Hub?

    I really have no idea why this happens, is the slave "stealing" some packets?

    Astaro support is not really helpful!

    On windows, just goto "c:\program files\ASTARO_VPN_INSTALL_DIR\bin" and configure all .exe files to be run as "Administrator" via file properties. That fixed all our issues.

    We run the SSL VPN in two offices that have HA enabled and I've never seen what you described. There's nothing special you have to do to set them up. I use small Cisco/Linksys 8-port switches on the outside between my ISP's gear and my ASGs. Inside we use managed switches but at home I use the same Linksys 8-ports so basic dumb switches should work.
