PPTP VPN & Failing network

When i attempt to remote in, the local network becomes unusable. Also it seems the ram usage goes up. Usually I have to reboot astaro before everything works again.
I am fully updated and have a home use key. 

Authentication: local
IP addresses assigned by vpn pool
VPN Pool (PPTP) 172.16.1.0/24
Remote/Advanced/DNS: 172.16.0.254(astaro), 208.67.222.222(opendns)
Packet Filter: VPN Pool (PPTP) Any-->any
Masquerade:  VPN Pool (PPTP) --> External (WAN)
Internal ip 172.16.0.254/24
