L2TP VPN configuration

Every time I try something new with this Astaro device, it's always a headache...

Trying to configure an L2TP VPN, because they wasnt to use it for VOIP.  Apparently some ISPs are clocking the VOIP port (casting the phone companies too much).

Anyway, when I click on Users and Groups, I get a message on the lower left hand corner of the page "Error on Page", and I am not able to add allowed users to the list.  Now, I can't say that I'm confident that the VPN will work, even with permissions issued, because nothing ever does with this thing.  However, I can't troubleshoot it without issuing persmissions first.

Called Support.  Waited on hold for about 10 minutes, then was cut off.

Can anyone help here?  This ASG220 is going to cost me a good account - every time he asks me to do something with it, I have to scre around for a whole afternoon, reading manuals, finding out the instructions don't work, scouring the forums, then finally calling (and waiting for ) support.

    Rob, I've never heard of that problem before, so I'll guess that this is a browser issue.  What version of Astaro?  What browser and version?

    Only accounts with Platinum/Advanced Support can reach Support via phone.  Even then, the best way to get support quickly is to submit a ticket via MyAstaro.

    It may be a browser issue - is Astaro 7.507 not IE 7 compatible?

    If I need a special setting, does anyone know what that is?  I've tried this from a couple of different systems with the same result.  Wasted half a day trying to get the VPN set up, waiting (and not getting) support.

    I was told that as a reseller I'd be able to get phone support, and sometimes I can and sometimes not.

    Opened a support case Friday early afternoon, and was told to try another browser.  Guess I'll have to start downloading other browsers and installing them to find out the L2TP VPN is just as messed up as other networking functions on this device.  

    Aren't others getting fed up with all the problems they have setting up these things?  I know I'm not the only one - I have looked through these forums...

    So 7.507 is not IE7/8 compatible - "For the definitions setup on the page with IE7,8 there are some known rendering issues with the webadmin that will be changed for the 7.508 up2date".

    So I installed Firedfox on the system on the LAN and was able to add users.

    Of course, after all this, I still can't get the VPN authentication to work:  when I enter the username and password, it keeps bringing back the login page.  Apparently there is something else I need to know, not documented.  That'll be another day wasted on this...

    Damned Astaro - a bigger waste of time than malware in my business...
