When using the Astaro VPN client (all available versions). The VPN tunnel is created and the routes are added via the VPN client from the Astaro firewall. A stable TCP/IP connection is made and private IP’s can be pinged. However after approximately 10 -12 seconds the DHCP tries a renew (Event 1003 below) but fails reporting ‘An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket’. After a further two seconds event 2504 reports the server could not bind to its transport. The next event is 1007 setting an alternate IP (see below). The private routes are removed from the route list. However if a manual private route is added ping responses are returned for this route.
This problem is inconsistent and unpredictable as it only seem to occur 20 -30% of connection attempts. We are using Windows XP SP3 in a standard office setting and connections via wireless 802.11x and 3G internet access.
After the 1003 event.
