Hello,
I recently deployed a ASG-220, replacing a 12-year old "beige box" firewall device running the POPTOP VPN server for serving the PPTP VPN users. Since I am very familiar with the POPTOP PPTP server, I made some changes as to how IP addresses are dished out to our users (to match the exact config I am replacing)
My concern is about upgrades and keeping these changes through what ever Astaro throws at the 220. I know it says "No support when making changes to files". In this case, the changes I made are very slight. I also made changes to the *-default files, which it says to do in the comments of the file.
The following files I modified:
/var/chroot-pptp/etc/pptpd.conf
/var/chroot-pptp/etc/pptpd.conf-default
/var/chroot-pptp/etc/ppp/options
/var/chroot-pptp/etc/ppp/options-default
I basically added the following to the pptpd.conf and pptpd.conf-default file:
#localip 192.168.200.1
#remoteip 192.168.200.2-254
localip 192.168.200.182
remoteip 192.168.200.236-246
And I changed the following in the options and options-default file:
(+) Added: ipparam pptp
That's all the changes I needed to make the Astaro device work exactly like the beige box I was replacing. Since those changes were not available in the GUI, will Astaro still support me?
What other options do I have?
Has anyone else made slight changes to files that were not possible using the GUI?
Many thanks,
Bruce
