Change SSH port

Prior to using ASG, I was using dd-wrt flashed router. It allowed me to change the SSH port to say 443. Using PuTTY on my laptop, I could create a SSH tunnel to my router. Then I used Proxifier to direct all network traffic from my laptop to the SSH tunnel. This way, even when I was connected to a public network, all my internet traffic would be sent encrypted over the SSH tunnel.

I have recently started using ASG 7.502 and cannot figure out how to enable SSH on port 443. I go into Management->System Settings->Shell Access and enable it. Now I try to change SSH daemon listen port to 443 and get the following error:

Cannot apply changes:
conflicting data types for specified node

What am I doing wrong here? I tried to search on this forum but did not get any hits.

    Well, Astaro ASG has some more capabilities and services than a dd-wrt flashed router, so there are some services running on port 443 already (SSL VPN and/or User Portal), thus you cannot  change any other service to also run on this port.
    Even when disabling Userportal and SSL VPN on the ASG, it probably will not allow to change the SSH port to 443 as it is "reserved".

    However, you don´t need this complicated port_forwarding_over_ssh setup any more, as you can use the ASG SSL VPN which IS running on port 443 and which allows you to establish a VPN connection to your home network on a much easier way than the formerly used ssh port forwarding

    Thanks for quick reply. Let me give it a try. I agree that ASG far more capable than dd-wrt and that is why I started using it at home. Kids don't like the reports though. It shows all their YouTube visits...!!

    I created the SSL VPN but how do I direct all network traffic originating from my laptop to VPN?

    With SSH port forwarding and Proxifier software, I was able to direct all network traffic to the SSH tunnel.

    In the Astaro SSL VPN, in 'Local networks', include only "Internal (Network)" if you want to create a "split tunnel" and add "Internet" if you want to direct all traffic through the VPN tunnel.  If you don't have "Internet" in the definition already, you will need to "download an installation file which updates all keys and configuration on your system, without re-installing the client software" from the User Portal when you/re finished.
