Side2Side VPN over Backup UMTS Connection

Hello out there...

i have following scenario, 3 Sides connected trough Side2Side VPn...

now the customer wants a backup strategy if the normal internet connection fails!

Now the first answer is is there a UMTS Module for the astaro available??

and how can i configure Side2Side VPN trough the UMTS Module, i think i ran into problems with de dynamic IPs from UMTS...

please help!

    Hi, I think you mean 'Site2Site'...

    Astaro only supports Ethernet (and some Fiber) networking, but you could look for a UMTS router and plug it into an extra interface on the Firewall, and use Astaro's connection failover routing.

    I've used a Kyocera router before with a Sprint EVDO Aircard. However, the router did not always restart the connection if there was a problem, requiring a power-cycle of the router.

    You might be able to use dyndns in Astaro to update a DNS name, which could be connected to with the VPN. You'd need to set this firewall to 'respond only' in the VPN setup, and the remote to 'initiate'.
    I'm not sure how quickly the DNS would update, however.
