Can't enable L2TP over IPSEC

I get the following errors. On the global screen, it simply says "undefined" and an informational message appears that says
Can't use string ("0") as a hash ref while "strict refs" in use at /perlApp/wfe/asg/modules/asgras.pm line 706

Running ASG 220 7.402

Ideally I would be using the Cisco VPN  for the iPhone but that has issues as well. iPhone 3Gs and get errors connecting so I thought I would try the L2TP but no joy there either.

    Mine is a 3G (not Gs), but the download with Safari establishes the Cisco and L2TP clients perfectly for me every time.  It sounds like there may be a glitch in your IPsec setup, as both L2TP and Cisco depend on that.  Are you sure your Local X509 Cert is consistent with your hostname?  Is that the cert specified on te 'Advanced' tab of IPsec?

    PS I would classify the error message you received as a bug, so I bet Astaro would appreciate it if you were to submit a ticket to Astaro Support.

    Everything looks ok as far as I can tell. Just removed the vpn config from the iphone. One item to note is my certificate, like many others, is self signed and I get the certificate can not be verified message. I accept, log in, download the iphone config file and install it. It installs fine except for ?Install Profile. Important: the authenticity of "VPN Configuration" cannot be verified. Everything else works fine.
     Once I go to settings and attempt to enable the VPN, I get VPN connection could not validate the server certificate.

    kwyrick, I think you're right.  I've done this so many time, but realized I hadn't tried it again since 3.0 was released.  Nothing else has changed.

    Something that Apple has done has broken the Astaro configuration profile, and I now get the usual cert warnings, I enter the passwords, and then I receive a message: 
    Profile failed to install
    The VPN service "My Company, Inc. (IPsec)" could not be installed.


    Can you submit a ticket to Astaro Support?

    Already have a ticket opened for the original issue, I'll have to include this Cisco issue as an additional item. I doubt there will be a quick fix for it though. To bad companies have to go in and mess with things that effect other vendors. While it may not be Astaros fault, it has become their issue thru no fault of their own.  Still, I sure wish things would just work they way they are advertised to. Oh well, to many cooks in the kitchen I suppose.

    The good news is that I just tried this with the V7.470 beta, and it works again.  I expect that that will be released the beginning of September as 7.500 after a 7.480 in August.

    In the meantime, you souuld be able to do a manual instal of L2TP by cutting and pasting your PSK.

    Quick update. Astaro got into the box and some of the services (definitions) required for L2TP to work were missing. Got it working for the most part.
     A note for iPhone 3gS users, don't try to download the cert using the portal, the download will fail. I had to change it from a certificate to a PSK. Kinda worthless that way as I wanted to use certificates instead of passwords or PSK's. 
     It is also entirely possible I messed something up.

    Cisco VPN client still broken but I'll try again after the new release.
