L2TP remote access from Linux client

Hi there!

At my company, we have a wonderful ASG 6.3 running. A lot of Windows users connect to our internal net via the popular L2TP over IPSec connection. 

But what about Linux users (i.e. remote Linux clients)? I know the very nice document L2TP Roadwarrior How-To. Is there any comparable HOWTO / FAQ on the internet or even in the FAQ to guide me (as a Linux newbie) through the setup of an (Ubuntu) Linux client? 

I thought that it might be easier to set-up an L2TP on the client side instead of setting up another 'pure' IPsec connection on the Astaro. But maybe I am wrong?

    As I vaguely recall, back when many of our users still were running Win2K and did not yet have the built-in Windows VPN client, we used the Cisco client to connect.  We had those clients because we had been using a Cisco Pix which was replaced by an Astaro.

    If there's anything more complicated than making sure you have the correct PSK, I bet it would be documented in some Cisco literature or that there's information available for the Ubuntu client on how to configure it to connect to L2TP over IPSec on a Cisco VPN server.
