i am sorry i am asking  another basic query
can you please tell me how do i acess SSH and FTP on my linux desktop (server) from out site

explain :: i am trying to acess my home (suse linux sles 10 )machine which is connected to my astaro ,i want to access ssh and ftp from outsite for which ,what changes i have to make in astaro (astaro ssh is 2222 -its working fine ) my linux desktop ssh is 22

packet filer log ::::

Default DROP  TCP  192.168.1.200 :60546→ ***.***.***.***:22(my public ip)[SYN] len=60 ttl=64  tos=0x00 srcmac=00:00:00:00:00:00  dstmac=00:11:11:4a:65:b9

another question i got lot of time message with packet filter log ===Default drop what does it mean and when i got this error where i should look for (possible wrong areas) ,i have created firewall rule is that is wrong ?

or can i use vpn ?

    Astaro has a default rule to drop all traffic which has not been explicitly allowed.

    Have you setup a service definition for 2222, and done DNAT for your external address, service 2222, to the internal server, service SSH (22)?
    And a packetfilter rule, to allow traffic from the internet to your internal server on port 22?

    i setup 2222 to astaro ssh and its working fine ! my desktop (suse linux sles 10 ) linux ssh is on 22 ! i have added packetfiler rules to allow ,while setup a DNAT it ask for packetfiler rules is it same or do i have to add different (another one )

    presently i am trying to access ssh from same machine  does it make diffrance /do i have to acess my desktop from another network ? (is it true in same network u cant acess u r own resource ?)
