iPhone, L2TP and Microsoft Exchange

Okay, so i've configured my iPhone (the rest i'll do later) to connect to the L2TP VPN on the Astaro 220.

I can access various internal resources, like for example I can go to an internal web server.

What I however cannot do is get it working with the Exchange server which is the single most important thing. Working over the companies wireless network it works without a hitch.

Connecting to the webmail interface of exchange seems to work, but the mail set-up does not.

All I get when I tell it to refresh in mail is:

Cannot Get Mail
The connection to the server failed.

Any ideas?

Looking in the firewall log it's connecting from the VPN IP pool to 192.168.0.1 fine.

    I've now got it working perfectly with the mail app.

    The problems can be surmised by the following:

    O2's data network for the last few days has been having problems. (I found this out a couple of hours ago)

    Essentially the reason i've been having all these problems is the fault of O2.

    I actually found this out via a third party who use O2 as part of a company car tracking system. (they use O2 to send the data from the cars on their position etc)

    Also, disabling push and data roaming on the iphone helps out massively in reliability.

    The only reliability issue I have affects both Outlook Web Access (OWA) and the iPhone push.  It wasn't until I discovered our occasional issue with OWA coincided with no push to my iPhone that I was able to get rid of the push problem for both of them with the morning restart of RRAS as described in the link above.

    Push to the iPhone works perfectly for me with the aforementioned caveat.
