What protocol should I use to create a VPN?

Greetings everyone!

I am the IT guy for a small environment with a total of about 50 system (most of which run Windows XP Pro) and one sever running Windows Server 2003 with Active Directory.  We don't host our own web site, nor do we host our own email.  Of those 50 systems there's about 10-15 are notebook systems.  Where getting ready to purchase and install an Astaro Security Gateway 220 sytem to upgrade our firewall, and I am stuck with what protocol to use for configuring the VPN.  Since we're such a small environment, I don't see more than 5 users at one time connected to the network via a VPN.

I don't know if I should use SSL, L2TP/IPsec or IPsec?  I am aware that both SSL and IPsec require additional clients.  I am not going to use PPTP, that's old school.  

Any thoughts or suggestions are more than welcome.

    Hi,

    in my opinion IPSEc with AStaro Secure Client is the best choose.
    You have to pay for "Astaro Secure Client", but its very stable and work without trouble. 
    Only one advantage:
    ASC runs under windows as service, login of remote users and login as admin without disconnecting tunnel is no problem...
