Both the NCP IPSec client and the OpenVPN client support pushing DHCP information such as DNS and WINS to the client upon connection. Currently, the only way to do this with Astaro is to manually tweak the configuration files. This isn't a big issue when there are only a couple users involved, but if network reconfigurations take place regularly or there are more than a handful of remote access users, this can be tedious.
I'd like to see the web admin interface have provision for setting these options and pushing them down. Here's a perfect example:
Tonight, I was helping a client download her new v7 IPSec configuration (she had never accessed the end-user portal, having been on v6 previously). Once we got her IPSec profile imported and her new cert installed, she connected without a problem. However,. upon opening VNC, she found that she could not reach her workstation in the office. Upon inspection, I found that she was using the workstation name for the VNC server address (well, I set it up that way, as the workstation uses DHCP and the address may shift). I had to manually configure the office DNS server (NetWare box) for the primary DNS in her VPN profile (I forgot that I had already tweaked the v6 configuration for her before setting it up on her notebook in the first palce).
