Antivirus does not scan streaming traffic, it can only scan complete files. On the astaro this can be enabled for any traffic being proxied by the SMTP, POP3, or HTTP proxies.
The IPS (a sort of "antivirus" for packet streams, but not in the strictest sense of the word) can scan traffic to / from any network range (including VPN tunnels), unless those ranges or hosts are setup as exceptions in the configuration.
