When you say cache, are you asking for a save user name and password type feature? To my limited knowledge I haven't seen one, but then again I haven't been looking as it wouldn't be a very viable idea to save passwords of this nature.
If you use the old SSL Client Version from 7.009 you can add a filename to the auth-user-pass directive of the ovpn config file. the file you point to must only exist of two lines. the first one contains the username, the second one the passwort. after that you will also be able to run the ssl client as a service. but you may need to adjust some registry settings first. search for openvpn in you windows registry.
the auth-user-pass directive behavior has changed in the current openvpn version. due to that the astaro ssl client behavior changed too. i was told, the old behavior will be included in the next patch from astaro.
