I have a site to site VPN set up between two Astaro Boxes (one running v7 and one running v6). Its been running great for months...
I added a second interface to the Internet on the head end Astaro (the v7) and originally did it as a backup link. I decided that I didnt want to do that, so i dismantled that set up and put it back as "Ethernet Standard" interface without a gateway. The entire time it was in the down state (even when it was in the backup mode). As soon as I activated the new interface, the site2site stopped passing traffic! The site2site link didnt say it was down, I could still pass traffic to the internet locally, but I couldn't pass ANY traffic across the tunnel. I shut down the interface (which is on eth6, not that that matters, just saying) and the traffic across the tunnel works again. I thought maybe I was losing my mind, so i brought up a continous ping in one window and watched as soon as i hit the enable button on the new interface, the pings timed out. as soon as i disabled the interface, the problem would clear and the pings would resume.
any ideas how or why this would be happening???
