VPNC VPN Client for Linux

Has anyone used VPNC to connect from a Linux PC to Astaro?

I'm interested because I already have it working with our Cisco VPN, and it integrates nicely into the Gnome NetworkManager on Fedora, which doesn't currently seem to be the case for PPTP.

Supported Authentications: Pre-Shared-Key + XAUTH, Pre-Shared-Key
Supported IKE DH-Groups: dh1 dh2 dh5
Supported Hash Algo (IKE/IPSEC): md5 sha1
Supported Encryptions (IKE/IPSEC): (null) (1des) 3des aes128 aes192 aes256
Perfect Forward Secrecy: nopfs dh1 dh2 dh5

If not, what do people use? PPTP with scripts?
Is there an OpenSSL VPN client that is easy to setup?
Is OpenSwan still very complex to setup?

Running ASL 6 and 7, btw.

I've not used that one... but I have used the Kvpnc client: http://home.gna.org/kvpnc/en/index.html

I got it working with the SSL VPN and the IPSEC vpn available on the Astaro.
My test workstation for it was an OpenSuse 10.2 w/ the KDE shell loaded... though it should work with any Linux system with the KDE shell.

Cool... it looks like that's a KDE frontend for VPNC and FreeSWAN. I'll give it a try.

Hi,

i got a ASG 7.509 and the KVPNC with openSuse 11.3 but it doesn´t work.
I setted up with the client config File, so must i change some settings in KVPNC.

PPTP and SSL VPN works on OpenSUSE 11 and later and SLED 10.3 and later with Gnome Network-Manager (You must only install necessary packges). The configuration is simple and easy to use. SLED 11.1 has a bug with SSL VPN and Network-Manager. It works only with root rights. As Workaround make a shell startup sript and runs with su. IPSec is only short tested, it works too.

A colleague use KDE on OpenSUSE 11.x. He has no problems with PPTP and SSL VPN reported.
