PPTP and DNS server

I can use PPTP from Windows XP to get to my ASG just fine, but I'm having a problem with DNS. The Astaro VPN is configure to hand out our internal DNS server to remote clients, so they can resolve internal IPs. IPCONFIG /ALL when connected via PPTP does indeed show the correct internal DNS server being handed to the client, yet internal hosts are not resolved...

We use a "split" DNS setup where our public hostnames are resolved via the ISP DNS and our private hostnames are resolved via the internal DNS. When connected via PPTP, if I ping host@muydomain.com instead of getting the expected *private* IP, it resolves via the public DNS and the client gets the public IP of the host... kind of defeats the purpose of VPN :-) 

Any idea why the PPTP interface is NOT using the DNS server that Astaro is giving it? Any way to fix this and make it work the way it should?

I'd like to use SSLVPN but the gyrations you have to go through to make it work on Vista are too much for our mortal users...

    Are you sure this is an Astaro issue, and not just a DNS misconfiguration somewhere?

    Well, not sure it's an Astaro issue or a MS PPTP issue, but it's not a simple misconfiguration problem. There is only one place to configure the DNS server the ASG should hand out to VPN clients, and it is set correctly. In fact, when using SSL VPN this same server gets handed to the client and works as expected.

    But when using PPTP, it does not. ipconfig /all *shows* the expected internal DNS server being associated with the PPTP interface, yet it doesn't seem to be used at all... whether this is an Astaro issue or MS, I have no idea... that's why I'm here :-) 

    Would be nice to know if anyone else using PPTP is seeing the same thing, or if their internal DNS *is* being used correctly by the client.
