When I connect to the ASG (v7.004) via L2TP, the client says it's registering the client machine on the network. This process creates DNS entries in the domain controller, and I'm sure does a few other things, so that other computers on the LAN can refer to my client machine by its name rather than just the IP address.
Is there anyway I can achieve the same result using the SSL VPN? I ask because OpenVPN seems to drop connections less often than L2TP and I'd like to use it instead. Unfortunately a few of our applications use gethostbyaddress() to identify the client computer.
I realize this is probably more of a Windows(XP/2000) question. But maybe someone can give me a starting point.
