PPTP: IP conflict with DHCP Server?

When the Astaro software is installed, it generates a random number IP subnet in the 10.x.x.x range for the PPTP-Pool. This should be left the way it is, since it is extremely unlikely that it would ever conflict with any subnet numbers used elsewhere in your network. If you do change the PPTP-Pool address range (and there is hardly ever a reason to do so), it is important that you do not change it to an IP address range that you are using somewhere else, since IP routing won't work if you use the same subnet numbers for different networks.

You changed your PPTP-Pool address range to be the same as your Internal network. By doing so, you created a problem that you can easily fix in one of two ways. Either change the PPTP-Pool address range back to what it was, or something similar and reasonably obscure, or change the address range of your Internal network to something other than what it is now, so that it no longer conflicts with your new PPTP-Pool address range. The only thing important here, is that these two address ranges are different from each other. You should also keep in mind that the PPTP-Pool address range need to be different from the IP address range used at any other site that you wish to originate a VPN connection from. Your best bet is therefore to stick with the obscure, randomly generated IP net number that the ASG installation created for you.

Sorry if this is repeatitive, I'm very new at this astaro thing.  I set the default ip back, and can connect through the PPTP port, but I can't ping any other Ip's other than the local address of the Astaro (10.0.1.6)  I opened up PPTP in the Firewall.  Anyone have any ideas?

If you want VPN connections to have Internet access, then you must create a masquerade rule that masquerades the PPTP-Pool address range behind the WAN interface. This is similar in configuration to the rule (I assume you have created one) that masquerades the Internal network behind the WAN interface, in order for the internal LAN machines to be able to access the Internet.
