After upgrade to 7.004 I always get "Authentication failed" when trying to connect.

  • I noticed that it looks like there's an updated .rpm package for OpenVPN client that's installed during setup (I think)... perhaps try re-downloading the client and config from the portal and give that a whirl.

  • Same problem here, right after upgrading...
Downloading and reinstalling the client does'n fix the problem, may be a problem on the server side :-(
  • Hi there,

i have checked this and there seems to be race-condition, that our Authentication Daemon gets not restarted in some cases.

There are two ways to solve this:
    GUI)
restart the firewall, it will also restart the authentication service and everything will work again

    Console)
log in via console or ssh as root and execute:
    asgv7:/root # /etc/init.d/aua restart
:: Stopping Astaro User Authentication                                done
:: Starting Astaro User Authentication                                done
    :: Restarting Astaro User Authentication
    asgv7:/root #

thats it, after that, the authentication should work again as expected.

    I appologize for the inconvienence.

    Best regards

  • Hi,

I had the same problem after updating to 7.004 yesterday.
Restarted the firewall, np after that.

  • Hi

Does not work better here, after aua restart and reboot ...

I think that the problem is located near the AD authentification, as I experience the same problem in Enduser Portal ...

Howerer, the client log is not very usefull ...
Wed May 16 08:06:28 2007 ERROR: could not read Auth username from stdin

I double-checked my w2k3 server, login of my vnp user is OK !
  • Hmmm... SMU, if you have Gold or Platinum maintenance, this is definitely one for Astaro support to figure out...

  • I agree with you Bruce, but before calling I wanted to know if the problem was known here ..

Maybe am I the only member running OpenVPN with AD group ? [;)]
