Hi All,
I am looking for comments in regards to best choices for vpn endpoints. So far we have 5 different locations that are running across VPN's. Astaro ASG at central office and Cisco 800 series routers of one sort or another across the other 5 locations.
Everything will be directed over the VPN tunnel, even internet access would come back and get proxied back to end users at remote site.
So my lame question is: Is buying a small server w/ ASG on it (or maybe an appliance..but not leaning towards that) better in regards to added benefits such as using compression on the IPSEC VPN and an integrated IPS compared to just plopping down $500 for a cisco 800 series router to handle VPN connection(ie. what we have in place today)?
What are your thoughts? What are you guys using? These sites will not be providing any services or hosting anything behind the firewall/router. They basically have about 3-4 computer users at each site. The reason I am asking, is we are going to be opening up a new location and it is time once again to think about connectivity and equipment.
Thanks for your time!
