Only one-directional communication with PPTP from Windows XP

Hi there,

my PPTP connection between a XP SP2 client and an Astaro Firwall 5.2 (VPN server) behaves strangely.

I have exluded the VPN firewall from the VPN connection and even completely deactivated the Windows Firewall in the end.

The client establishes the connection (through a router/NAT). Ping from the client to the server, HOWEVER nothing is possible at all in the other direction; neither a ping nor any other application comes through.

This behaviour wasn't there in the beginning; in the beginning everything was fine but since the second log-in I have these problems.

In the packet filter log I see that the packets are led through to the client, but I don't get a reply.

Can anyone give me a hint and explain me why this occurs? I'm rather helpless.
