PPTP VPN Connections require two attempts?

Hi all

I thought this might have been resolved or discussed before but I can't find any mention of it.

Inbound PPTP VPNs to Astaro's behind a NAT device (v5, v5.2, v6, v6.3) often require two attempts to conenct from WinXP machines (and I assume other OS's too but have not tested).

The first attempt hangs at "verifying username and password", times out, and the next attempt to connect is immediately connected fine.

As luck would have it none of my Astaro's are doing this right now but I will post PPTP logs as soon as I can.

Has anyone else seen this issue?  i suspect the fix is at the cleint end but I have not found a combination that works yet.

    I have noticed this problem as well.
    Hopefully it'll get fixed soon.

    This problem isn't fixed with latest release 6.303.
    I'm opening a ticket form.

    Hi cerri, not sure what problem you are referring to as this thread now seems to cover IPSec and PPTP, but v6.303 seems to have fixed the PPTP issues on the two boxes I have deployed to.

    Note; we found an issue with the v6.2 ISO file, had to rebuild two boxes with v6.3 ISO.  Maybe you should try that?

    I found no referring in the changelog about this problem, and my client is reporting the problem isn't resolved.

    thanks for the hint for the cd, but the unit is in production, and I cannot reinstall right now. [:)]

    The pptp system is still broken, and now I have three major clients wanting out of ASL as a product.  Anyone got any suggestions?  Seems to work just as badly if I use RADIUS or SAM authentication, normal/high encryption etc.

    Has anyone had success with this??

    I solved this problem by reinstall de 6.303 update.
    The problem was that on one box i install the first release of 6.303 and on an other de second one there i don't have pptp troubles.
    So i ask astaro support how i can reinstall an update.
    fist check if you have the "old" 6.303, login to you box by ssh
    check /tmp .u2d-6.303-060914-3
    If the file is from the 13.9.06, it is the old one. 

    you have to edit the /etc/version file
    and change the version number back to 6.302. Then you are able to reload
    the (new) 6.303 up2date.

    Thanks for the hint Pieter, but this did not resolve my issue.
    Also my initial testing with v7 shows the issue is not resolved, although I have not tested it outside a lab situation.
