VPN interface issue

Hi all.

I have an ASG120 box. I just set it up for L2TP VPN access for external users. My external interface has 2 public IP addresses attached to it (routing from external to one of the 2 internal networks is based on the public address people connect to).

While watching the L2TP logs, I noticed that the VPN process is binding to one of the two external addresses, which happens to be the wrong address. How can I get it to listen on the address specified as an additional address? Did I make a wrong selection in my configuration at some point? Or would I have to swap the primary and additional addresses on the external interface? Any ideas?

It is likely binding itself to the interface that is your default outbound route. With two WAN interfaces, only one of them can be the default route in the routing table.

In short, its bound to the interface with the default gateway configured.

That's what I needed to know. I don't see a problem switching the default route to the additional interface, and it will make my DNS more consistent as to which interface is used for which purpose.

after many months, I finally changed the default gateway to the other address, but it is still listening to the interface that is the primary external interface. Is there any way to change this without remapping all my interfaces? That's a tedious and possibly prone-to-error chore I'd prefer to avoid.

Must be a physical, not virtual interface.
