VPN basics

I don't have much experience with VPNs.

I have followed the Roadwarrior howto, but haven't had any luck. I think I might be missing something basic.

Do I have to open any special ports for the VPN ?
Can I test it from within my LAN.
(I am using 6.001, with ADSL PPPoA)

The easiest to get working, and therefore the one you should try first, is PPTP. And yes, you can try it from the Internal network as well as from the WAN side.

Works really well. I had to put the ADSL modem in bridged mode first though
