Is Roadwarror the way to go?

I have a home net with a wireless lan connected to an own nic on Astaro V5.203. On the wireless lan I have a laptop with Win XP home edition, which I want to automatically connect a vpn tunnel when it is booting alternatively when I log on as a user in Windows.
I do no want to type another password, I want the vpn tunnel to automatically connect and route all traffic through the tunnel into my internal lan.

Is this a "mission" for a roadwarrior set up or is it a site to site vpn tunnel?

    The roadwarrior client VPN configuration you set up in Win2K or WinXPpro will give you a desktop icon. Clicking on it connects you. It remembers your connect ID and password, if you so wish.

    I have never tried to automate this process to the point where it automatically takes place in the background on startup, without any user intervention. Since it is just a double click on a desktop icon (which could be eliminated by putting it into the Startup folder), plus one more mouse click to dismiss the little property page that pops up, the grand total of three manual mouse clicks simply didn't bother me enough to do anything about eliminating them.

    It should be doable though, but it seems to me that would be a  Microsoft desktop support issue, which has nothing to do with ASL support.

    Site-to-site VPNs is something that you set up between two routers. If it is remote workstation to router VPNs that you need to set up, I would suggest that you stick with the roadwarrior approach. It is much simpler, and it lets you use the VPN client that comes with Win2K and WinXP.
