PPTP connection that is cruching under win xp

hello everybody,

a workmate in the usa uses win xp and a pptp connection (windows pptp client) to connect to our network. this connection crushes sometimes after different times. sometimes after 1 minute - sometimes after 20 minutes.
does there anybody knows why? i have looked into the kb but i found nothing.

    The PPTP tunnel will close if the keep alive packets don't get through. If there is any packet drop on the connection from the WinXP machine running the PPTP client, to your ASL VPN host, some of the keep alive packets may be dropped, resulting in the connection closing. Packet drop can be caused by several issues:

    1. Link congestion, either at your client end router, or at the interveaning ISPs.

    2. Intermittent Ethernet card. Many people have solved their VPN reliability problems by swapping out their Ethernet cards.

    It is also possible to change the PPTP VPN timeout values inside ASL, to provide a longer timeout threshold.
