Ebay not available when connected through PPTP

Here is a strange one.....

When I connect my laptop to the office via the ASTARO VPN/PPTP connection I can NOT access www.ebay.com but I can get to places like www.yahoo.com and www.bbc.co.uk.

99% of web sites ARE available so I assume ASTARO is configured OK but there are just a few sites that refuse to respond.

DNS is also ok, I confirmed this by 'ping www.ebay.com' and seeing the IP returned.

The web browsers (IE and Firefox) are configured as 'Direct connection' i.e. No Proxy is used.

Some people would say I should not be surfing E-Bay while at work but thats another story

Any thoughts would be greatfully received.

What does a traceroute say??
Is the URL name resolving when you go into nslookup?

Lower the MTU (http://www.dslreports.com/front/drtcp.html) of the client or use the proxy.

I reduced it to from 1500 to 1000 and nothing changed.

nslookup seems ok. It returns several IP addresses for the ebay server farm.
Tracert also seemes to work. The list of IP addresses goes from London to NY to Denver and then I start getting * * * which is not unusual.

MTU changed from 1500 to 1000 and the problem did not change. But. Enabling the proxy fixed the problem. ebay now pops up. But I would prefer it if I did not have to use the Proxy. I also logged onto the firewall as loginuser and tried 'wget www.ebay.com'. The IP address resolved correctly but it could not get to the ebay site.

Not sure.

But... I noticed that 5.27 fixes problems with 'PPTP accessing some sites'. I upgraded from 5.026 to 5.027 and trala! the problem has gone away. Thanxs for all the suggestions.
