How to Setup a realVPC on my network

I am using v5 at home. My son wants me to setup what he called a "realVPC" to his home computer so he can access his computer from anywhere else, such as the university he attends. How do I do this? [:S]

Find out what ports the application uses, and use DNAT to forward them to the PC, and put packetfilter rules to allow the traffic.

Just want to make sure I explained correctly what I need to do. My son tells me that realVPC is a program running on his home desktop. I do not know what this program does but it must at the very least let him access his computer remotely.

Read the ASL manual and Knoledgebase/FAQ if you haven't already.

Realvnc - www.realvnc.com
default port is 5900. Works great

Rather than opening up a port through the ASL firewall for external VNC remote desktop access, you should consider running a VPN connection, using either the PPTP or L2TP capabilities that are built into both ASL and Microsoft Windows (Win2K/XP). Opening a VPN connection first, and then running VNC, gives you a much more secure setup.

It is also much easier to configure, since no added masq rules or packet filters are required on your ASL box.
