When using the ASC feature "Logon Options" to enable the NT-Domain-Logon after the Tunnel is established there is a long time lag in which the ASC says "Preparing to Domain-Logon" but apparantely nothing happens in the background. After a minute or so the normal Windows-Domain-Logon is presented. Why does it take so long and what is happening in the background?
(Using NT4-PDC with NTLM-Authentication, not Kerberos)
As a side note: When trying to logon to a NT4 domain with a W2k or WXP client which doesn't have WINS or DNS servers enabled a correctly configured lmhosts-file must be present in which the domain-controller must be entered. In this way one can force to logon to the PDC and not use the local cached credentials. This is helpful when one have a password policy set up that enforces a password change after a given period of time.
Now with the above scenario it is possible to make the password change on the VPN-connected client, but the new password seems not to be accepted. Hints anyone?
