VPN IPSEC between two ASL 5.0 both with dyn IP

Hi all there,

I have a question about VPN IPSEC. Is it possible to build a tunnel via VPN IPSEC between two ASL 5.0?

Yes of course it is. I know that. Anywhere why should i buy an ASL  

But the my main question is:

Is it possible to build a tunnel via VPN IPSEC between two ASL 5.0 with dynamic IP adresses?

I want to create a tunnel with a friend between his home net and my home net. Both got an ASL 5.0 with home user license and DSL from our local provider (No Not the pink T  [;)]

If it is possible can you give me a smal introduction in how to creat a VPN IPSEC tunnel between two dyn IP ASL 5.0.

    you could do it manually from one of them, using dyndns to know the current IP of the other and then changing the VPN destination to the correct IP (the other would have to be set to "dynamic" remote endpoint)

    but if both boxes don't know the other's IP ...

    if you know your way around Linux, you could also do a script that will ping the other (dyndns again) and change the definition directly in the file

    Since version 5 you can establish a VPN tunnel with two dynamic endpoints. Just add the remote endpoint on each side by using DNS host in your definition. If you create a standard vpn connection, you can choose this dynamic address as remote endpoint. Just do this on both sides and the tunnel should come up.

    I only read about 1 dyn ip asl 5.0 and one static ip asl 5.0. Sure that it is possible?

    OK. THX for your statement. I will test it until this weekend. If the VPN tunnel is createt succesfully i can post a step by step how to in this forum if somebody is interested about it

    Hot dog!  This does work!  WHOOP!

    I'm not sure if this was already posted, but when you do your def's for the remote_gateway, just select "DNS Hostname" from the dropdown menue INSTEAD of "Host".  Then just fill in your whatever.dyndns.org address!  The channel I setup between my friends house & mine works perfectly, and we've been screwing around with the NIC's which constantly changes the DHCP lease from our broadband provider.
