VPN Logins through LDAP?

We are looking for a way to authenticate all of our PPTP vpn traffic through an already existing secure LDAP database.  We do not have a RADIUS server which it suggests in the PPTP settings and we arent interested in setting one up.  Is there / will there be any support for this?

    Hi there, 

    no so far there are no plans for that.

    The reason is that the two authentication mechanism aren't really comparable.

    Both PPTP and L2TP use a Challange Responce Mechanism (MSCHAPv2,CHAP). this means that the client sends a challange and the Authentication server creates out of the challange and the user credentials the responce.

    Radius has been designed excatly for that purpose, 
    LDAP is designed for looking up existing user data inside a directory.

    LDAP per default is not capable of handling those requests.
