ASL as PPTP Client

You wish to setup a network link from the ASL box to another network using PPTP ?

This could be done using the Roadwarrior PPTP server I guess, you would have to setup routing etc on the remote network to get this working.

Simpler would be to install another ASL system at the remote network and use IPSEC VPN to setup the link.
 

Thats exactly what I have been thinking about. The remaining question to me is now: "Is the ASL Roadwarrier PPTP Server able to connect to another PPTP Server?"  

As a general rule, you use PPTP when temporarily connecting a remote PC (roadwarrior) to the local network via a VPN tunnel.

You use IPsec when you wish to establish a secure, permanent VPN tunnel between two networks at different locations.

ASL provides you with both these VPN options. Each has its purpose. Why attempt to use the wrong one?  

I know that IPSec would be the right choice but the remote server only provides PPTP. While IPSEC is not yet implemented it's the only way to get access to my university's student network. If there's a way to get it to work this way I would be very happy if  somebody could tell me how. If there's no way thank you all for the fast and polite support so far.  [:)]
