open VPN-Ports for a VPN-Server behind the Firewal

Hi all,

we have the problem, that we have to open TCP 1723 and GRE 47 for a server behind the firewall.

Under Services we only have the following options for protokolls: TCP, UDP, TCP+UDP,ANY, ICMP,AH and ESP

But we need for VPN-Connections Protokoll GRE!!!

If we open Port 47 with TCP, we get a connect to the server, but on verifying Username and Password we got a timeout.

If we open Port 47 with ANY, the VPN-Connection works, BUT NOW ALL PORTS are OPEN to the Server.

We are using Astaro 2.035

Any ideas???

I can't really help you with ASL v2, since I use ASL v4, but in v4 at least, you can select the GRE service under Packet Filter --> Rules --> Services. Curiously, the GRE definition can not be found under Definitions --> Services.

With ASL v4, you don't have to open up GRE (port 47) on the ASL box to get PPTP to work, you only do so on a router that sits in front of the ASL box.

I hope this helps somewhat. You may want to upgrade to a newer version of ASL at some point. Ver 5 will be released this year.
