Host-to-net vpn connection?

i want a host-to-net vpn connection to my astaro that i can use from my laptop. i'm a little confused what i need to do. i have read the pptp road warrior guide and the x.509 but i don´t know i can use or should use. what´s the difference and what´s the "area of use"?

Have a look here . If you use IPsec VPN, you have to install an additional client software. By using pptp, you can use the pptp client of your OS.
