PPTP LAN Access Issue

I have successfully built my ASL server and I can establish a PPTP connection to it from the outside world. I have added the packet filter rules and masquerade for the PPTP Pool.

I can successfully connect to WebAdmin of my ASL box on the LAN interface, however, I can't see anything on the LAN.

You help is most appreciated.

What do you mean by 'see'? ping? Map a drive? What is the OS software you are using?

The Windows LAN browser will not work across PPTP because of efficiency considerations; you can get something vaguely like it with the deployment of a Windows DNS server or WINS (yuk!!) server...

Hey.  Thanks for the response.

By "see", I mean ping, resolve IP via http, anything.  It's as though I am not connected although it shows an active connection moving packets back and forth.

I have tested from Windows XP (in-built VPN client) and Fedora Core 1 using pptpclient.

And I would rather not use a WINS server ;-)

Can you connect to webadmin when you are connected via PPTP (using the ip of the lan interface)?  If that doesn't work, try to add this packet filter rule.

pptp_pool-->any service-->internal network.

You may want to consider adding another rule with the reverse

internal network -->any service -->  pptp_pool.

Are you trying to ping the ip of ASL?  If so, did you turn off the ICMP responses? Do you have a DNS server behind the ASL?

Make sure the vIP (PPTP-Pool) isn't inside the subnet you are triing to connect to.
