Familiar PPTP errors

I'm using 4.016 and am seeing the familiar PPTP errors in my logs after an unexpected disconnect.
GRE: read(fd=5,buffer=804d5a0,len=8196) from PTY failed: status = -1 error = Input/output error

What causes this error? I can post more log entries if it would help.

    Did you install 4.016 from ISO or did you make an up2date? If you made an up2date from 4.0xx to 4.016 you do not have the pptp-patches. Update to 4.017.
    Another problem could be a router in between the ASL and the Client that mangles GRE-packets. Have a look if VPN-Passthrough (or something like this) is enabled on a potential route (dslroute or something liek this).

    It was installed from the 4.016 ISO. I'll look into the GRE mangling issue. Thanks.
    So there are no issues with ASL and PPTP then? I just need to know if it's me or not.
