Which Router for VPN Clients?

Hello Community
I want to connect remote clients to the ASL via a dsl router. It should be compatible to  ipsec / X.509 certificates, because the clients are using ssh sentinel. Which is a good working model? Can anyone give me some hints?`
Thanks

  • Hi netcat,

if your clients are using Sentinel, any IPSec-passthrough-capable router will do, tho you should disable the NAT-T (IPSec-passthrough) on your client side routers. We use this scenario successfully with a Netgear DG824MB.

For homework, I would suggest Snapgear tho. They are VPN endpoints, so no client software is needed, and you can connect everything which has Ethernet (Windoze, Linux, Macs, your fridge, ...). The Snapgears run uCLinux and FreeS/WAN, and setting up RSA keys between them and the Astaro is easy.
