PPTP through Masqueraded IP / Cable Modem

Hi. 

I'm having problems connecting to my ASL PPTP service through a Cable Modem (that has a non-public IP assigned by my ISP) and also through an non-public masqueraded IP assigned by my ASL in my Lan.  Using Windows XP as client, I'm getting Error 619 in both of the cases. 

In my ASL logs, it seems to be a problem with the GRE packages that the protocol needs to work. Is there a way of using PPTP without GRE packages? I mean, just only using TCP ports? or does anybody has tried to "Encapsulate" PPTP in other protocol such as SSH?

    PPTP and NAT is impossible. Use PPTP without NAT.
    If you need a VPN and NAT use IPSec VPN with NAT-Traversal.

    Wait. I use the M$ PPTP VPN client to connect from my in-laws house that uses the Linksys BEFSR41 router (NAT) to my house that uses the same router (1723 forwarded to ASL Box, PPTP Passthrough turned on). It works fine. I'm traversing 2 NATs with no problems.

    What exactly are you talking about. I guess I'm not seening what you're saying.

    maybe the pptp patch which can be found in the hacker section can be helpful.

    Your masquerading device must allow tcp/1723 and GRE IP/47. If you have to pass
    through an Astaro error 619 is an ugly but normal fault in the current versions, please
    retry several times and do not retry too fast since MS needs some seconds to initialize
    its pptp stack.

    To Jim M. if you have only one connection you wouldn't need the passthrough feature.
