VPN Newbie -- What next

I managed to make a VPN from my PC - internet - Astaro Box (PPtP)

The netwrk behind the Astaro box has a Samba Server,  I would like to be able to see the shares here... How do I do that?
The samba Shares live on IP 192.168.49.2, the astaro box on 192.168.49.1, my pc has gotten the ip 192.168.49.3 using the vpn

My own IP is 192.168.0.31

How do I go on? i don't see anything in my network neighbourhood...

    Most likely you can ping the samba server now.  If you setup a DNS and a NBNS or use a host file you should be able to get to it by name.  Other wise try to get to everything by IP.

    yep.. i can ping it, but why doesn't it show up in the networkneighbourhood?

    I'm not a Windows expert, but as far as I know, unless you are using a WINS server, you will not see any of the internal computers on the network neighborhood of the VPN client.  

    Broadcasts are dropped by the firewall when they are sent down a PPTP tunnel, and that is how Network Neighborhood finds other computers when you are not using WINS.  If you have a WINS server on your internal network, try configuring the VPN client to use it and you should be able to see your internal hosts.
