PPTP and webaccess

I have PPTP roadwarrior access enabled on my asl 3.217

I want to be able to surf the web after establishing a pptp connection with the firewall

this is no longer operative

Here is how things are setup

1)Definitions - users - http is checked off for the specified user

2)Network - Nat/Masq - PPtp pool - all/all masq external

3)Packet Filter Rules - PPtp-pool any any allow

4)Proxies - DNS - allowed networks; PPtp-pool is listed

I can connect to the remote network using the pptp connection and can ping remote computers...

however if i try and open any webpage it doesnt work...i am pretty sure this was working before i updated to 3.217

any ideas?

    Can you ping outside addresses ? Check your proxy settings.

    i cannot ping outside address

    the DNS proxy looks ok...it allows to etho and PPtP-Pool

    the weird thing is that under my ip settings my gateway and ip address (the ones assigned by the firewall when making the pptp connection) are listed as the same number?! Is this right? Shouldnt the gateway be the internal lan ip for the firewall?

    No, that's correct, it gateways up it's IP to the firewall which then handles the routing.
    Packet filter issue ?  NAT/Masq?

    the plot thickens....

    So I decided to test things using another network...and lo and behold after establishing the pptp connection i was able to surf the web

    let me explain

    The first network i used is run by Road Runner or time warner CATV in NYC. On this network I am able to make a pptp connection back to my asl box HOWEVER i am not able to get access to the internet only my internal lan

    Then i went to my friends network...totally different ISP and different location...there I was also able to connect back to my ASL via PPtp HOWEVER now i am able to use the pptp connection to surf the web?!

    Both networks use cheap dsl/cable nat gateways to coonect to the net??

    Very strange...any ideas??
