Instant messaging issue with VPN.

We run an instant messaging program called Eyeball Chat.  (www.eyeballchat.com).

We have a VPN between two points and when the tunnel is up Eyeball can do text comms but not voice comms, (the session fails to initiate).  If I drop the VPN connection it all becomes good.

Any ideas on what could be causing this issue ?  I cant see any packet filter violations.

    Hi there, 

    I took a look at their website.
    It looks to me, that in the unpatched configuration, the system uses dynamic ports to communicate correctly.

    Plz make sure that both vpn subnets can initiate connections to each other.

    If you don't want to open all ports, they have a registry patch available to force the software
    to use static ports.

    I hope this helps, 

    Are there any dropped packets in the filter live log?

    Gert, I have found the problem.
    I am using the registry patch already and the problem occured even when using the fixed ports.

    I traced the issue to NAT-Traversal,  Turn NAT-Traversal OFF and it works fine.  Turn it on and it breaks.  Not sure why.

    Since I currently don't need NAT-Traversal it's not a big issue.  Would be nice to be able to fix it though.

    I lied. It only works intermittantly.  Mostly it doesnt connect. [:(] 

    I drop the VPN and it works fine.  What sort of filter should I have to allow all traffic down the VPN ?

    Sounds strange, 
    maybe they have a problem because of splitting packets and reasamble it again.
    NAT-Traversal as bigger protocol overhead, 
    therefor the payload data must be smaller 
    which leads to that.
