Apple OSX IPSec client compat

So there are two frontends to the builtin IPSec capability of OSX, one is "Open" and is called VaporSec and the other is called "VPN Tracker" The relevant linkage is as follows:

VaporSec VPN Tracker. 

Has anyone been able to get either of these to interoperate with ASL? Anyone know of any other clients / front-ends which work?

I can use PPTP to get access to a protected network but PPTP is about insecure as all get out.

    VPN tracker should work since it has been tested against FreeS/WAN: 
     VPN Tracker Interoperability 

    I'd feel somewhat scared about using a product called VaporSec...

    I intend to do some testing of the options for OSX in the near future, but haven't yet had the time.

    Yeah, I know it _should_ work. I just can't seem to get any joy. Perplexing. VaporSec is nothing more than a pretty GUI front end to racoon/isakmpd which is already integral to OSX so should be as secure as those applications are.

    one would hope.

    Hi,
    I'm using VPNTracker for IPSec Connections, it works fine. You have to watch that the Proposal Check on Phase 1 ist set to "claim" and that the Lifetimes in seconds are the same as the ASL, also I deactivated "send initial contact message" it works with 3DES and AES.

    Well, i first tried VPN Tracker a couple months ago and have yet to register (why would i when it doesn't do what I need) so now I can't use it at all.

    It costs to much anyway. They charge way to much for a simple front-end to the built-in utils.

    Looks like I'm going to have to figure out how to do it using vi and the terminal.
