DNS and Internet Access non-functional with PPTP Roadwarrior Access

Have 40 bit encryption and am connecting from a Windows 2000 machine. PPTP is allowed to eth0 and the internet IF.

But no internet access. And server names on the local network will not resolve. And yes I have defined the two internal DNS servers as DNS servers.

I can however ping all the servers and get into them if I use the IP adress.

And ideas?

    If I understand you correctly, you are connecting to the ASL from a Windows PPTP client, and when connected, you can ping internal servers, but you cannot make connections to the internet.

    I am struggling with this to. The thing is that the pptp client uses the ASL gateway as local gateway. You can disable this, but then you won't be able to get to your internal network without adding static routes. It should also be a security risk if you are not behind some sort of a firewall.

    I have not found at bulletproofed solution yet - still trying.

    A way to do it should be to use the ASL http proxy on the ASL, but I have not tried this yet. And it will probably be slower. You have to make sure that your PPTP pool are accepted to use the serives that you will use.

    do you have packet filters allowing traffic
    to the servers? 
    For  testing purposes  I would set a filter
    like 'PPTP_adresses ANY ANY ALLOW'.
    To access the internet it is in addition 
    nescessary to masquerade the PPTP adresses 
    to the external IF of ASL. 
    The client should no be able to connect to
    any services in the internet as well as the 
    local net.
