folder sync

does anyone know of any good folder sync software for a vpn connection....this would idealy sync any shared folders across the vpn every x seconds automatically thus cutting down on large file transfers...

    i really need any help that can be provided on this issue...my remote users are connecting back to the main database which is fairly large...ewverytime they open the databse on their remote computers they say the databse is extremely slow....the connection back at the main office is an adsl and so this is understandable...BUT to have the vpn query the entire share everytime they enter the database is NUTS....there has to be a better way to sync the folder in the main office with the remote office and then have the folders automatically check only for changes and not just go and re-download the whole thinh every time....

    Basically...I want to mirror the folders across the vpn..this has to be possible...

    i hate to keep answering my own post...but here goes anyway...

    so the remote network is setup as a peer to peer without a server...i am thinking that i could setup a 2000 server on which i would map the database from the main office...then the remote office users would connect locally and not across the vpn to the local server and they would have access to the info over 10/100 network and not over the VPN.

    This raises some questions thought....

    1) when i setup the remote sever is this a 'child domain' (i know this might be a little outside of the scope of this forum but i figure many people here have much more know how than me on these issues)

    2) how would the sync between the 2 servers work? Do i still need to install some kind of sync software...or will 2000 server do this by itself?I imagine that what i am describing is basically similar to a server farm where multiple machines all have the same info and it all gets updated in real time...ideally i would like the same thing here just the sync would be across the vpn
