We have 2 ASL 3.052 (beta) that were working wonderfully for 15 days. The IP www.xxx.yyy.zzz is the Remote (Dynamic) ASL and the aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is the Local (Static) ASL.
Our remote office had no Internet or VPN connection. After checking the Interfaces at the remote office I noticed that the PPP Interface had the same IP Address for the last 3 days, which not could be possible because our service provider breaks the connection 1 time every 24 hours.
The PPP interface was up. Before I did anything on the remote ASL I pulled the plug on the ADSL Modem, which would automatically give me a new IP address, waited until I had Sync, and checked my interfaces. PPP still had the same IP. I then restarted the ASL at the remote office. The VPN tunnel and internet came back after the reboot.
So the next question was when did this happen. After doing a bit of searching I found the following log entry on my Local Machine.
www.xxx.yyy.zzz is the Remote (dynamic) connection
aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is the Local (Static) connection
err.. please excuse the time difference as on the Local machine was using an NTP server, however the 2 portions of the IPSec logs did happen at generally the same time...
What does this mean? about 1 min before the ISP cut the connection. For some reason ASL didnt seem to get it. I also forgot to turn off logging for Broadcast and Multicast messages so my Kernal logs are full of entries, however i am not one to believe this could be the cause.
