Connect to my ISP using PPTP (NL:MxStream)

Our Dutch ISP that is using the KPN MxStream network wants to authenticate to them using a PPTP tunnel. That is posing

I was wondering if that is even remotely possible using the ASL box. What I need in a normal linux box is the package pptp-linux to setup the tunnel.

  • Hello All,

    Info:
    =====
    I'm not very familiar with the Astaro Product yet.

    But isn't it possible to just add the "pptp" client to the chrooted pptp tree?

    Example:
    ========
    - Download PPTP client from
      * http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/
      or some mxtream stuff from
      * http://www.sphaero.org/adsl/
    - Compile and link it static on a remote system
    - modprobe ppp_generic
      modprobe ppp_mppe
      modprobe ppp_async
      modprobe ppp_synctty
      modprobe ppp_deflate

    ln -s old_libncurses.so.5  libncurses.so.5
    - chroot /var/chroot-pptp /bin/bash
    - fw:/ # /usr/sbin/pptp  file /etc/ppp/options.adsl
    Using interface ppp0
    Connect: ppp0  /dev/ttyp0
    LCP terminated by peer (peer refused to authenticate)
    Connection terminated.

    Wouldn't that work?

    I'm here behind a Wcom leasedline, and not able to test XS4all ADSL. (Maybe soon at some other place).

    Kind Regards,

    Roderick
